Questions and answers
Whether this is your first virtual race or your fortieth, you probably have questions. Here are some common ones; check out the Ready to Race guide for more details on how to get ready.
❓ What time does the race start?
You get to choose! Our event is on Saturday, June 6 and your race has to start and end during that day, but beyond that it's up to you. To make sure everyone across the country has time to get the race done in their own time zone, you can start any time after 12:01am Eastern Daylight Time and need to be done by 11:59pm Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time. That gives you 30 hours to get your 5 km done! Please make sure you've got a plan to stay safe and follow all regulations.
❓ How do I start the race?
In the Virtual Race app, the Race page currently has a countdown clock. On race day, you'll see a button labeled "I'm ready" to get started.
❓ Can I walk / march my 5k?
However you 5k, we're here for it. Sprint or walk, jog or march. The app will help you track when you've reached 5k and let you capture a selfie for the leaderboard.
❓ How can I increase my impact for Feeding America?
Our newest partner Vizer has an app that will donate a meal to Feeding America every day that you exercise 30 minutes or walk at least 10,000 steps. Sign up with Vizer; you can make your 5k count twice and then keep the impact going every day.
